The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s top tourist attractions, and this fall it’s getting a huge boost in traffic with the opening of the Moss Hotel on-site.
The hotel will give its guests exclusive access to the geothermal spring’s expanding facilities as well as new additions the Moss Restaurant and spa, Lava Cove.
The Blue Lagoon is conveniently located between Reykjavik and Keflavik International Airport, making it an easy stop for tourists to the island. Now, visitors will have the option to stay on-site and gain access to a private swimming area set apart from the main body of the lagoon. The 62 rooms offer floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the dramatic views of volcanic landscape and steaming pools. The hotel is expected to open fall of 2017. Other amenities coming to the hotel include the Lava Cova, a subterranean spa, Moss Restaurant, offering traditional Icelandic fare, and private guest experience called Hidden Cove, which includes a butler, on-call chef, and private masseuse.
