Jason Frye

Jason Frye lives in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he received his MFA in Creative Writing from UNC Wilmington and began his career as a freelancer. A travel writer for more than a decade, he’s authored more than a dozen travel guides including Moon North Carolina, Moon North Carolina Coast, Moon Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Moon Blue Ridge Parkway Road Trip; and has told stories in Garden & Gun online, The Local Palate, CruiseCritic, AAA Go and Traveler, Dallas Morning News, Thrillist, DK Travel, RoughGuides, The Telegraph, Our State, Southern Living, and more. An Eagle Scout, retired middle school teacher, longtime restaurant critic, active barbecue judge, and enthusiastic taste tester for chefs, brewers, distillers, and vintners, he’s never far from a delicious bite or sip. He’s a member of the Society of American Travel writers and has shared his expertise on road trips, national parks, and culinary travel at the New York Times Travel Show and the Travel and Adventure Show. He's lived on the coast of North Carolina, the mountains of Virginia, and deep in the coalfields of southern West Virginia.
