Amy Brecount White

Amy Brecount White has written about travel, education, and the environment from Arlington, Virginia, for over 20 years. She’s published a young adult novel, Forget-Her-Nots, (Greenwillow/ HarperCollins) and loves to garden, hike, and do yoga. She studied Great Books and English at the University of Notre Dame and has a Masters in English from the University of Virginia. She’s also a Virginia Master Naturalist and volunteers almost weekly to clear invasive plants and promote biodiversity in Arlington parks. She’s been a panelist at an American Society of Journalist and Author (ASJA) conference and gave frequent talks on speaking the Language of Flowers at the U.S. Botanic Garden. She’s a former high school English teacher who now has her own college essay coaching gig. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, National Geographic Traveler, AARP.com, Arlington Magazine, Bethesda Magazine, TeaTime Magazine, Virginia Living, and Roadtrippers.com. She’s lived in Dayton, OH; South Bend, IN; Charlottesville, VA; Richmond, VA; and Arlington, VA.
