Amanda Calnan Vowels
Amanda Calnan Vowels is a Portland, Oregon-based journalist with 20 years experience. She’s tackled Europe, New Zealand, Australia and Africa—and all corners of her native Pacific Northwest—with babies, toddlers, and teens. Expatriate life is part of her extended family. She and her husband and kids spent two years living, working and schooling in Brisbane, Australia. They also spend time visiting her sister's family who reside in remote South Africa. Living overseas with children has given Amanda a deeper appreciation for the remarkable spaces and stories of her native Oregon. Her best days are spent chronicling top Northwest spots and encouraging family travel of all types and budgets.
