Alicia Erickson

Alicia grew up as a third-culture kid in the Pacific Northwest, Japan, and Europe, where her fascination for the world was born. She has been on the move ever since, chasing her curiosity around the globe. For the last five years, Alicia has been working as a travel writer for publications like World Nomads, Conde Nast Travel, National Geographic Traveler India, and BBC Travel, developing content focused on ethical and sustainable travel, food origins, and outdoor adventures. She holds a BA in International Development and Human Rights from the University of Washington and an MSc in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to working as a travel writer, Alicia worked as a political analyst, development consultant, and social entrepreneur while she traveled fulltime and called India, South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda, Colombia, and Seattle her home. In addition to travel writing, she is researching and writing a book covering narratives of displaced communities around the world. Currently, Alicia is based in East Africa, and primarily covers North America, sub-Saharan Africa, and South Asia. From wildlife conservation in the rainforests of central Africa and trekking through the valleys of the Himalayas, to digging into food and wine culture and learning about emerging sustainability movements, Alicia’s fascination with the world and love for adventure brings her to places far and wide, shaping her beliefs in intentional travel and storytelling.
