Is Lake Powell still worth visit with all the closures?

For a family trip in April we are curious about any recent experience you have had at Lake Powell recently .

Recent experience at Lake Powell

We are thinking of basing in Page for a family trip to the area. I notice that there are many closures at Lake Powell due to low water, but I am unsure about how much this affects visiting there. So if you’ve been there recently, your feedback would be appreciated.

jubilada, you can view webcams of Lake Powell online now. Probably doesn’t help with planning for spring, but it is quite low.
People used to rent houseboats on the lake. We never actually stayed on the lake but drove by it many times.

Jubilada, If you haven't already this might be worth looking at, maybe give them a call. Depends on what activities you had in mind.

I flew over Lake Powell in late July, had my GPS app running so I knew we were over the lake. I could not believe how low the water is!

Good luck.

I live in Salt Lake City. Lots of people I know are still vacationing there via houseboats. There are some cool spots that are visible now due to the low water. If you don't want to go in a houseboat, I would consider basing yourself in Kanab instead. If you click on my user name you will see my trip report for Kanab and Page.

Thanks. I read the report but don’t understand, from it, the recommendation for Kenab.

i think we’ll probably stay in Page because we found a good Airbnb, but I’m curious about the conclusion you reached nonetheless.

Kanab is just a nicer town. Page is lots of hotels and ok restaurants. More hiking opportunities out of Kanab. But if you have a large group and want to eat out at a different place each night, then Page works.

Are you planning to visit Antelope Canyon? We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.

I agree on Antelope Canyon. It is gorgeous and almost other worldly.
