Advice for Glacier/Yellowstone/Grand Tetons trip

Just starting to look at putting together an approximately 2-week trip to Glacier/Yellowstone/Grand Tetons this September due to our other plans not working out. Any suggestions as to where to stay/how long to stay in each area in order to maximize our time? Definitely interested in hiking (easy to moderate), floating the Snake River, fly-fishing, watching wildlife, birdwatching, seeing the "big sights"...
Looking at airbnbs in Whitefish (for Glacier) and Jackson Hole. But what about Yellowstone? I would welcome suggestions on where to stay.
Nothing is written in stone - no airfare purchased or reservations made, so if anyone has any advice to share, I'm all ears. Thank you in advance!!

We were impressed by the excellent museum in Cody - not very far from Yellowstone and well worth visiting.

>where to stay<

Have you tried to book anywhere?

They get full fast. I like to stay inside the Parks. I spent Saturday afternoon calling Glacier and Yellowstone, had to be flexible with dates and location, spent over a half hour on hold, but got 2 nights in Glacier and 4 in Yellowstone/at 2 different locations.

In park lodging https://www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com/ They opened with limited lodging initially but will be opening additional rooms. Keep an eye on updates. It's difficult to say what will be open in September. Other lodging will be in the gateway towns of Gardiner, Cooke City or West Yellowstone.

Whitefish is probably a good base for Glacier this year as the east side will not reopen and what has reopened so far has been extremely crowded (that could change by September) so you may want to seek activities outside of the park.
