Luggage Tags
Do you have tags on your luggage with your name and address?
yes? No? Why? Why not?
Once upon a time I had a lovely leather tag for my suitcase. I stopped using it when there was an increase in robberies at addresses taken from suitcases at airports
Now with the increase in lost and delayed checked luggage I’m thinking about getting a new tag.
What do you think?

What do I think? Sadly I think this will get moved out of the lounge.
I think, but could be wrong, that the tag the airlines put on your bag contains all of the necessary information.

I've had delayed luggage 10 times, most recently on September 7, 2022. So yes, I do make sure my bag is tagged. I see no reason to put an address since they will ask for that when you make the claim for missing bags. But I do put my name and cell #.

I put the hotel name and address, and my cell phone number and email on luggage tags when flying from home. When flying home I put my home address. Never a good idea to put your home address on luggage tags when leaving for vacation. It’s a big flashing neon sign that nobody will be there. Besides, I want my luggage to get to my hotel, not back to my house where it does me no good.

I have a "Return Me For Reward" tag outside, inside a tag with my name and phone number.

Neon cable ties on the handle in a pattern of my initials in Morse code.

The tag should not show the home address -- security etc. Instead, put a second card hidden behind the visible one. The second card has smartly abbreviated itinerary so if the luggage is lost it can find me.

Yes I always have a cute/distintictive luggage tag on my suitcase. Outbound it has my last name and the address and phone number of the hotel or apartment I am headed to. On the way home I use a business card with an office address or just my last name and a phone number.
To me it's more about spotting my bag. Only one time in all my trips has a suitcase gone missing (thankfully on the way home) that was brought to me the next day by the airlines via taxi.

I put my first name, cell phone number - with the country code! - and email address on the luggage tag, and the same information plus my destination hotels on a big piece of paper on top of my things inside the bag. I've had bags waylaid numerous times, but once grabbed the wrong bag in Bangkok. It was identical to mine, even had the same Master lock! It was full of school supplies, so I hadn't opened it. Luckily, the owner messaged, then called me from the airport. The call woke me up as I was already in bed. We were both flying to another country the next morning, so were able to arrange an exchange at the customs office.

We have tags inside our bags, but no longer use them outside. The bar codes that they stick on the bags at check in have all the info they need in case of a misplaced bag, and we've yet to have one come off in transit.

I just put my last name, address where we will be staying and cell phone#, on the way out, then last name, home address, and phone# on the way home. I also put a piece of paper on top of the clothes with the same info on it, just in case the luggage tag get torn off.
