Swiss Travel Pass v.s. Flex

Seeking info on best travel pass option for our August visit. 70-year old couple...we will take the train from ZRH to Montreux, spending six nights, then to Lauterbrunnen four nights, then return to ZRH. It appears an 8-day flex pass would make sense? When we visited Engedin the hotel provided an excellent regional travel pass that was very useful. Not sure a similar pass is available in the areas we are visiting this year. We would like to take best advantage of various transport available but a bit confused on our best option. Many thanks.

The only way to know what works best for you is to crunch the numbers. Look up the individual fares for everything you plan to do and compare those to the various passes. Keep in mind that the default fares on SBB are half fare, so make sure to use the full fares for comparison.

We always use the Half Fare Card and last year we bought the year long Half Fare Card, but our trips are longer than yours, so what makes sense for us may not make sense for you.

Montreux does offer a guest card:

As does the Jungfrau Region:

Of course, I was hoping there was an easy canned answer or a magic formula...in addition to our trips to and from the airport we want to maximize attractions in and near Montreux/Lauterbrunnen, but don't really know yet what all that might include and don't often have a hard, predetermined schedule. Will try to fill in the blanks and take time to do the inevitable research. Thanks!

Check Saver Day Pass (bought 6 months ahead) for ZRH - Montreux and Berner Oberland Pass for Montreux - Lauterbrunnen and surroundings - Lucerne, may be together with a half fare card.
