car rental return in Scotland before boarding ferry?
Hi,
We will be traveling to Scotland in April and renting a car in Edinburgh. Ultimately we want to take the ferry to Belfast and are wondering where the best place would be to drop off the car? Does anyone know if there is still a car rental place in the ferry terminal in Cairnryan? Or is Ayr a better choice (but longer ferry ride)? Thanks in advance for any information.

If it was me, I'd drop he car in Glasgow and take the train to Stranraer then a taxi to the ferry terminal 7 miles up the road.
OR . . . what I'd really do is drop the car at EDI or GLA and fly to Belfast. That ferry ride is not a favorite of mine.
