Considering Bonaire for family vacation.

I think Bonaire seems very quiet. Off the beaten path. Not overly commercialized. Has anyone been? I'm looking at different resorts. I don't think we need anything too expensive. Was also looking at VRBOS. Just hoping someone can share tips!

I know Bonaire as a diver from several visits. I do not consider the island suitable for non-divers. Unlike other Caribbean islands, Bonaire is very dry and there are many cacti. There are also not many sights and most of the beaches are stony.

Bonaire is not well served by direct flights from the US. If you want to be in that area of the Caribbean, both Curacao and Aruba are good options.
