Dress code for shows in West End?

Hi everyone,

Hoping to take the family to a show in the West End on our summer trip to London.
what are dress/attire expectations?
would we be okay wearing sneakers and nice jeans? We don’t know if we want to pack dress clothes on a big trip overseas.

"Dress code for shows in West End?"

. . . uh - no. Clean would be good. Otherwise wear whatever you want.

ok; I was also told to dress up for a live performance in the states as I grew up, so didn’t know if there were the same expectations in London.

thanks

The same is true in the states now as well.

You'll see people dressed up as if it were a special occasion, and that's always nice to see. But the majority of people attending Broadway shows are not dressed up. For good or for bad, that's the case.

If you tend to get cold, consider bringing a wrap/cardigan. AC temps can be low. I hate being cold in a theater. Have fun!
