Caribbean shore swim and snorkel

Hello, ISO a Caribbean location best for blue water shore swimming, sandy beach and snorkel. Traveling the end of June with my family of 4 including 2 teen boys for 5 nights coming from NY. We plan on taking a couple excursions but primarily want to enjoy the beach and be able to swim from shore. Having traveled to Mexico, Dominican Republic and the Florida Keys in recent years, we have not had good luck in that regards. SO many options to chose from and its overwhelming. Have looked into Exuma, Belize, St. Lucia (Anse Chastanet), St. John to name a few lol. Any thoughts/suggestions would be very appreciated and thank you in advance for your time!

Check out Virgin Gorda in the BVI’s. The island is surrounded by clear unrighteousness blue and turquoise waters and boasts plenty of golden sand beaches with very good walk-in snorkeling. If your budget allows stay in a rental villa on Mahoe Bay. It’s a 3/4 mile Long Beach with a wonderful “triple” snorkeling reef that begins about 50 feet from shore and runs the entire length of the beach. You can snorkel there for hours and not see everything. The beach has a western exposure with fantastic views of neighboring islands and cays and the setting sun. Simply put, it doesn’t get much better anywhere in the Caribbean.

How about Aruba or Curacao? Aruba has very beautiful sandy beaches which would be ideal for a beach holiday. The islands off Cancun near Mexico with their snow-white sandy beaches are also very beautiful. Or as a third recommendation, Grand Cayman in the middle of the Caribbean.

Have a great trip

After visiting many different islands, I think some of the best offshore snorkeling is Bonaire. However that was all I could recommend there as we didn't really enjoy on shore options (food, accommodations). For us the best islands combining on shore amenities and off shore snorkeling are St. John and Grand Cayman.
