Australia and surrounding .. in Summer 2023
NEVER MIND ... TOO COLD IN THE SUMMER.
I am trying to delete this posting
My college daughter and I with cousins (age 19-65) are planning a summer 10-14 day vacation in 2023. We are thinking Sydney > Melbourne > Wellington
1) How to go between Sydney <> Melbourne? Is there train? how long is the train?
2) Would Wellington, New Zealand be good as the next destination after Australia? How do you suggest to get to New Zealand, air or sea?
3) We want to do mostly seeing. Where are not-to-miss places?
4) Suggestions of lodging that are nice but don't break the bank
Thanks

Not sure if you are still interested or not but the train from Sydney to Melbourne is about ten hours. Most Australians would fly that route, about an hour flight time, or they would drive.
When you say summer do you mean the Australian summer - Dec/Jan/Feb - a year away? That's the main school holiday break for the year and everything gets very busy and expensive. Make sure you book ahead.
I think flying to New Zealand as well in the time you have is not a good idea. Spend the whole time in one country. The only way to NZ is by flying or cruise ship.
