My Christmas market tour started in Bruges. Most of my pictures were taken during the day. The markets are very busy at night making walking difficult. We enjoyed it a lot better during the day. Plus it was colder at night.

So far, my favorite market was in Bruges. It is smaller with really good variety of food. The market in Strasbourg is big and spread out. The city is beautiful and the Christmas decorations amazing. I love all the bridges, it made the city very romantic. I did not care for the food that was being sold at the market, a lot of pork, onions, pretzels with ham, pepperoni, speck and cheese, and mushrooms in heavy cream. My husband said the sausages with onions were all good. We went to Colmar for a couple of hours and we thought the products being sold was better and more variety than at Strasbourg. Colmar was a charming city. Looking forward to Paris.

What tasty looking food. Did you have any tartiflette at those markets? One of my favorite memories is eating tartiflette outside on a cold day at the Paris Christmas market.

Funny how Moravian stars are part of Christmas decorations everywhere nowadays. Growing up, the only people who decorated with them were ... Moravians, who hung them in their windows or on the front porch. (also known as Herrnhuter stars in Germany, as they're made in Herrnhut, where the Moravian Church has its world headquarters)

TPAYT, I don’t eat pork, but my husband had some, he said the tartiflette was good. He loved the sausage and grilled onions with lots of mustard.

These photos were taken in Colmar. We only spent about an hour in Colmar because both us were not feeling great due to a bad cold. The town was lovely.

I just revisited your thread as my DH announced he wants to visit Christmas markets in Europe…. 😬
Living in a hot climate makes us drool over snowy pictures, but I was zooming in on people’s footwear as I get so cold and sometimes feel chilled to the bone even in our relatively mild winter here.

Adelaidean - sturdy soles for the cobblestones and wool socks for warmth. Although, I seldom wear wool socks during our winter trips unless I'm hiking, but I suspect I don't run as cold as you do. Glad to hear you and yours are considering a winter trip!
