Voltage converters & adapters in South Africa
For curling iron use in Kruger Park, Victoria Falls, Cape Town
I知 almost ready to leave it at home and go natural.
I have a few 3 prong plug adapters that are several years old.
So much info on line that I知 confused about converters etc.
What have you used? Best? Cheapest (probably never use again)?
Will most hotels have USB ports to charge phones & iPads?

If your curling iron is only rated for 110/120v then you shouldn't try to use a voltage converter with it. Generally speaking, appliances with heating elements require way more current (amps) than most portable voltage converters can supply. You risk frying the converter, the curling iron, and even possibly starting a fire.
There are affordable dual-voltage curling irons available on sites like Amazon, and maybe at your local drug store or Walmart-type store. I'd get one just to be safe.
Yes, you will need a plug adapter. South Africa's plug designs are not like other countries', but some hotels/lodges have multiple outlets available. Again, to be safe I'd look for a travel pack that includes plugs that you can use in various countries. These are also available inexpensively online or at many retail shops.
You don't need any power converters for your phone or tablet. Virtually all such devices automatically sense the voltage and will protect against overcharging. You'll still need a plug adaptor for your USB adapter.

Thanks Gardyloo….
My curling iron says 120/240V. 60Hz. And has very low to high settings.
I have 2 adapter plug sets. I’ve used it with just an adapter plug (no converter) in Europe keeping it on low. It looks like I will be able to use it with just the 3 prong adapter plug.
Also I should be able to plug my iPhone devices into that 3 prong adapter.
Does this sound doable to you?
