4 weeks in Vietnam and Thailand or Vietnam, Thailand and Laos or Cambodia



Hello, I am starting to plan my mid-Dec to mid-January trip to the places I mentioned above.



I am not sure on the order and all of the places I want to visit..



I am travelling from Canada and meeting my boyfriend that currently lives in the UK. This will be his first time in SE Asia but not mine.



I have been to Thailand before (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and day trip to Phi Phil islands)

Ideally, I’d like to go to different places in Thailand this time around.



I’ve always wanted to go to Vietnam but a little concerned about the weather Dec/Jan? I am not a light packer so would prefer to only have to pack for summer but if you think I would be missing out on a lot in the north I will try and make it work 😀

From what I’ve read, I was thinking if I stick to central/south Vietnam I should be okay?



Places I heard would be good to go in Vietnam:

Halong Bay



In Thailand:

Koh Samui



For reference, we are in our mid- 30’s

-Definitely want some beach time

-We enjoy eating, good beer and wine

-Exploring villages and cities

-Markets

-Spa

-Cooking classes

-Looking for cool places to stay

-Definitely want to do an elephant sanctuary (I did one in Chiang Mai in 2016 when I was there last)



If someone who has done this trip could share their itinerary. I don’t know if I should start in Vietnam or Thailand? Ideally I’d like to fly to places vs taking train/bus “if possible”.
should I add Cambodia or Laos?
