Guides in Wales
Friends would like to visit Wales. They would train from London to Cardiff and wish to get a private guide or guides starting from there. I'm sure they will look online but I volunteered to ask my Fodorite friends for any first-hand experiences. She has found van tours so far.
TIA

This was a link that came up for Tours by Locals; anyone have experience with them? Since many Fodorites are DIY travelers, no responses so far = no surprise.

Tours by Locals is a well known site. I've heard good things about a few of their tours (in Germany and Scotland specifically). The issue is it isn't actually a tour company but more like a clearing house for independent tour guides. You might get a great guide - or not so much (but that goes for any tour/tour company really)
One thing they might consider is contacting the Cardiff TIC to see if they have any lists of local tours/tour guides.

If they know which sites they want to visit, it is always possible to hire a local taxi for the day - or multiple days.
