Philadelpia to Graz, Austria

2 years ago, I was scheduled to fly on Lufthansa by way of Frankfurt. It appears that Lufthansa no longer flies out of PHL and a suitable replacement hasn't appeared. I'd like a non-stop to a European city that would have flights to Graz, and from Dubrovnik, Croatia. Hoping I have missed an obvious answer. Fall 2022.

A bit out of left field but how about a train to Graz? For example there are direct trains from Wien Flughafen to Graz every 2 hours, taking 3 hours. If you can get to Vienna easily of course.

Unfortunately, Vienna isn't a non-stop from Philadelphia. Still exploring, but Amsterdam might be the best choice.

Can you fly to Zurich non-stop? Swiss international flies into Graz.

An alternative US departure airport is to take the train from Philadelphia directly to Newark airport. Far more non-stop destinations in Europe.

Nope, no non-stop to Zurich.
I really want to stick to PHL as my first choice, and Amsterdam looks like it will give me choices to continue to Graz. I will wait a while to see if flight possibilities increase the next few months.

You could get the night train to Austria if you fly into Amsterdam. It takes 15 hours, but you are sleeping for some of that, saves a hotel and helps to reduce your carbo footprint a bit. Adds to the adventure too!

15 hours is to Graz by the way, one change in Vienna if you choose the right train.

I like train travel, and we did a few night trains decades ago, but not going to happen at this point in my life.

After a few days in Graz, I will be traveling by train to Ljubljana.

At he holidays we flew into Newark and hopped the train to Philadelphia, and it was quite easy. If the flights out of EWR are superior, I'd recommend it!

American has shedulded direct flights from Philadelphia to Zurich, Frankfurt, Rome and Paris for September.
The area you plan to visit can be reached from these points either by a connecting flight or by a direct train ride (no train chanage)

Direct isn't non-stop, so no to Frankfurt and Zurich.

I use the train system here in the NE, and it's good, but I'm a complete zombie on return from Europe. Family can easily pick me up a PHL. It remains the top choice.

KLM fly AMS to Graz. Not sure about back again from Dubrovnik as a direct flight though.

The flights I mentioned above (for the random date of Sept 8th) are all NON STOP
PHL dp 19.05 - ZRH ar 8.55
PHL dp 17.45 - FRA ar 7.30
PHL dp 18.30 - FCO ar 9.10
PHL dp 22.25 - CDG ar 11.55

AMS is a good alternative too

Connecting flights (Sept 9th):
ZRH dp 12.45 - Dubvovnik ar 14.30 (Swiss Airlinies)
ZRH dp 15.35 - Graz ar 16.45
ZRH dp 17.05 - Ljubljana ar 18.15

FRA dp 8.30 - Graz ar 9.45
FRA dp 12.50 - Graz ar 14.05
FRA dp 15.10 - DBV ar 16.55

FCO dp 10.30 - Dubrovnik ar 11.40
FCO dp 13.45 - DBV at 15.05

Sorry for my remarks concerning train connections in my post 10. I made some confusion with another post above where the poster asked for connections to the Swiss and Italian Alps.
