Florida beach town with clear, shallow water : road trip from NYC

Hello, we are road tripping south from NYC. Have plans to stop in Charleston, Savannah and Amelia island. Looking to spend a week in a beach town with clear, blue green, shallow water beaches. Have two kids (5 and 9). Small town feel preferred. Would prefer staying in north Florida. Have been to the keys before. Thanks!

Well, not Florida but this is what the Grand Strand is noted for. Look at Liltchfield beaches or any of the beaches south of Myrtle. Shallow water.

Hi, that is a bit more developed than we want. Something more Caribbean like?

I think you should go to the Destin Fl area, it has beaches like that. I don't know of any small town feel in popular Florida beach areas.

Look into St. George Island near Apalachicola.

Anything along 30a would be perfect -

Most of the Panhandle between Cape San Blas and Pensacola Beach would work.
If you don't like crowds, stay away from Destin and Panama City Beach.
If you want real seclusion and "old Florida" go to Cape San Blas or Indian Pass.
