Just after 4am at Tonopah, NV . 6.5 according to the USGS. Almost constant aftershocks since then, some quite big.

I was up for my usual early morning foray & just returned to bed when I felt the vibrations, familiar to me since childhood in N. CA. I'm now in the foothills north of Sacramento & was surprised to read how far away it was, a big one.

I didn't feel a thing (in the Sacramento Valley) but right after 4AM the neighbor dogs on both sides of me went bat s#it crazy . . . could have been the quake, or just the local possums or raccoons bugging them during early morning forays

I would have slept through it if I hadn't got an alert from My Shake. Apparently, sensors in San Diego County picked up faint readings. Here's the "Did you feel it" map from USGS.

This is the site I use for information near me. When I felt yesterday morning's I assumed it was a small one much closer to me & looked at the clock so I'd be able to find it when I got up again. Much to my surprise . . . have a look. There was one relatively near me yesterday afternoon but only a 3.2. I didn't feel it.

Yes, I see that. What I like about the Cal Tech site is the size of the square indicates the relative magnitude so gives a quick overview. And when you click on a quake it zooms in on a relatively small area with names of towns which I find helpful. Or maybe I'm just used to that one.

The USGS one does the same thing with the circle size. Red means within the last hour, orange/yellow is within the last 24 hours. I think you hit it on the head with "used to"!

I did see pictures of a big crack across US 95. Crack appeared to be about 3" wide and one side looked about 3" higher than the other. Nevada Transportation did repair it quickly. the other video I saw was a swinging chandelier in Fresno CA. On March 31 (late afternoon) there was a 6.5 in the mountains of Idaho. It was felt in 5 states and up into Canada.
I do have a lookout friend that is going to be working in a lookout tower in Idaho about 20 miles from the epicenter. I hope he doesn't have too bumpy a summer.
