I just ran onto this post from two years ago. I originally asked for suggestions for Arizona and New Mexico and just want to update that my husband and I followed your advice and stayed in Southern Arizona. We did the loop you suggested only in reverse order. We actually participated in Ash Wednesday at San Xavier del Bac Mission. The Titan Missile Museum was so interesting. Tubac was fun...I love art! We actually had pizza in Patagonia. Loved Bisbee and took the tour of the mine. We didn't especially like Tombstone but had to see. Kartchner Caverns was absolutely amazing. We then spent a couple nights in Tucson and then Scottsdale before flying home. We had the BEST and most memorable trip and got home right before the lock down from Covid. Now I am ready to plan our SantaFe, Taos trip. Just want to thank all of you for the wonderful ideas!
ps..also saw Saguaro National parks and High Desert Musem.

I am glad you had a nice trip, thanks for reporting back.
For New Mexico, we have flown into Albuquerque several times and found that if you add the cost of car rental and air fare, it was often the least expensive option. Now that COVID has messed with car rentals things may have changed.
Start a new thread when you are ready to plan.
