Prince Edward Island
DW and I are considering a trip to PEI in September. We have not been there before. We would be driving from Halifax and would be planning on spending 6-7 nights on PEI. We would spend a couple of days in Charlottetown. We would then like to see the other parts of the Island. Is it reasonable, given the distances involved, to use Charlottetown as a base to visit the North Cape, Central Coast and Points East Coast? We are more interested in the food and the sights, than hiking or beach activities.

We will be there the last two weeks of September. Hope to make it to the Shellfish festival in Charlottetown. Still wondering if we can use Charlottetown as a base while visiting other parts of the island or if we should look for accommodations elsewhere.

You can get to most of the island in 2 hours from Charlottetown so up to you. Make a big loop each day or pack and unpack every few days. Traffic is not a problem on the island. Cavendish will be closed as far as restaurants and merchants goes the only thing open will be Anne of Green Gables National Park site. The National parks will be free to enter.
