Dewey Beach Delaware for Spring Break!

Hi Fodorites! Going to Dewey Beach, Delaware for the very first time...arriving Friday the 14th of April and leaving Monday the 17th.

Anything we should put on our "to do" list? We are a fun, active family with 4 parents (mid 50's) and 5-7 25-30 yrs old kids. Renting a house and will have a rental car.

Appreciate any advice for those who have been there - restaurants, activities, shopping, etc etc.

Anyone interested in saltwater fishing? http://www.destateparks.com/marinas/charter.asp
I remember bringing home about 15 lbs. of bluefish and flounder.

For restaurants I suspect you'll end up somewhere in Rehoboth which has venues better than Dewey's Rusty Rudder but perhaps that sort of thing appeals to your family.

I'm sure you can Google this subject.

There's always that absolute anathema for some otherwise known as Ocean City.

Enjoy your stay; overall it is a fun place which many of us are quite fond of.

Depending on where you are coming from or going to, you might want to ride the ferry from Lewes to Cape May NJ.

There's a new bike path in Lewes and some great routes. You can rent bikes there and ride. The town is very cute and the state park there might appeal to you. Given your screen name, you might be interested in this;

Dogfish head, do a tour in Milton and then eat at the restaurant in Rehoboth. Thrasher's french fries are addicting and love Grotto's Pizza.

Try Fin's in Rehoboth (not the one on the highway) and Big Fish Grill just up route 1 from Dewey; these are great for honest excellent seafood but they do not take reservations and are usually crowded on weekends.

Fancier foodies might like Eden and Blue Moon in Rehoboth (reserve on opentable) or any of the late Matt Haley restaurants (look online at http://www.sodelconcepts.com/ )We like Azafran in Rehoboth for tapas and they do take reservations by phone; it's a little 'cozy' inside.
