We are visiting Paris in April, I'm trying to understand the metro a little better. We will be there for 10 days, and from what I've read, the week pass is for only 7 days. Can that week pass be reloaded for extra days? If it can, do we have to reload it daily for those last 3 days? We plan on using both the metro and RER trains to get around so we will need a pass to lets us do both.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Consider using the extensive bus system. There is much more to see out the windows of buses, than the windows of the Metro.

True, but Paris traffic can be a mess. More than once , I got out of the taxi and took to the nearest metro .

Unless you intend to use the RER extensively outside zone one, just get the pass for the metro, which also works for the RER within the boundaries of Paris; pay for the RER separately when you intend to go outside Paris. For the last three days, you could simply purchase a booklet of ten tickets.

The basics:
Paris Visite card is almost always a tourist rip off, avoid it.

Individual trip tickets cost 1.90 € A carnet ("kar-nay") of 10 costs18.60€ This ticket covers a single, one-way trip on any of the metro lines, RER zone 1 in Paris (but not suburbs like Versailles), the Īle-de-France region’s bus lines (with the exception of Orlybus and Roissybus), the tramways, or the Montmartre funicular.

Navigo Easy is the latest option, similar to the London Oyster stored fare card. There is a (go into settings and set subtitles to auto translate) that describes its use. The card sells for 2€ each and then you load on it as you wish - single tickets, carnet of 10 tickets (which are reduced to a cost of 14,90€ when loaded on your Navigo Easy) or passes. Note that it is not like the old passes which were restricted to use by only one person but only one person at a time can use it, so each traveler should get their own card.

The weekly Navigo pass - which can be loaded onto your Navigo Easy card - is not a floating 7 days but rather valid from 00:01 Sunday through 11:59 PM the following Saturday. For 22.80€ you can ride all modes of transport throughout the 5 zones. Available for purchase beginning Friday before validity starts through the following Thursday. What day do you arrive?

On our last visit we found it easiest to just load carnets on our Navigo Easy card as our dates did not coincide with the Sunday to Saturday validity of the weekly pass.

BTW, we have come to like using the bus as it provides better visuals than traveling underground, with a pass allows you to jump off if you see something interesting then jump back on later, and it avoids the sometimes rather lengthy walking to transfer on the Metro.

Takes a bit of planning but where are you going? Strictly Paris or in the 10 days multiple trips outside the city? i was there in Nov for a planned 23 days but quite a few outside of Paris trips. Even so, in the first 10 days used up the value of the Navigo card and the rest of the time was basically "free" transportation. Used it on bus trips to and from the airport, Versailles, and getting in getting lost no expensive metro tickets get back on the right bus, getting off gthe metro to soon, etc. Buying it at the airport also meant I did not need to exchange money at the airport to pay for transportation from the airport to the city.

Bear in mind the weekly pass called a Navigo Decouverte is good Monday through Sunday. Otherwise, you'll need a pass that you can load tickets onto for the days outside of the Monday-Sunday time frame.

We will arrive on Saturday morning. be there for a few days and also going to Normandy then back to paris at the end of our trip the 8-10. It's sounding like the Navigo Easy may be the better option since we won't be Paris the entire time.

How are you getting from CDG into the City? Where are you staying? We love to stay around Luxembourg Gardens, from which we have a very short walk off the RER B stop there, which we pick up at airport. Check its route and see where you'll be. The St. Michel stop serves the 6th Arr very well.

We love the Route 63 bus stop from Cluny all thru St. Germain then the 7th Arr over to the Trocadero, and yes, the sights are great.
