Let’s Go To France
Awake at 3am to shower and pack the last few items in my small backpack.
The dogs rolls over with a question on their face. Knowing that we had the suitcases out yesterday they sense that we are leaving. They rise to get their heads rubbed and their bellies fed.
Opening our front door the warmth of the early morning hits us. There is a heat wave warning for the next three days. Honestly I will not miss the heat and am looking forward to some cooler weather.
We get checked in and then go up to security. TSA pre check is something that I am happy we have and are through security in about 5 minutes. I was surprised by the number of people going to Chicago, Atlanta and D.C so early in the morning. I had gotten our tickets with points months ago and had us fly from Sacramento instead of LA or SFO. This meant I couldn’t find a direct flight to Paris and so we have a short layover at IAH.
Regarding masking. I had bought some Kn95 from Amazon. I had gone to Costco but they were sold out. I also got some really cool crocheted bands for the back of the mask that has a button on each side. Homemade by someone on Etsy and they are a great ear saver.
I was also impressed that most everyone in the terminal was masked and that there was no one on the plane making a stink.
We are flying United and are in Economy Plus. I love the extra legroom and the drinks were nice to have.
While in line for our flight from D.C. to Paris I quickly check my emails for hundredth time. The Pass Sanitare was received! I downloaded our passes before the plane takes off.
I really can’t believe that we are on our way to France.

Good to hear you’re on your way!
We flew out of SFO direct to Europe instead of flying via a US connection as I do not wish to fly domestically unless I have to. Everyone on an international flight is either vaccinated or tested recently and often times both. We also noticed on our flights in June that most people on our international flight were wearing better medical grade masks and doing a better job of it. We feel safer for it

Paqngo, for once we are in the same time zone!
We live in a place where no one believes in covid/vaccines/masks, so it does my heart good to see practically 100% compliance in France. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip as you go along. Bonne route!

Macross- I do think that they were inundated. I would think they are doing it by dates but we did meet a couple who did not have theirs. She had applied at the same time that I did.
