Junta executes 4 pro-democracy activists
From the New York Times:
"Myanmar’s military regime announced Monday that it had executed four pro-democracy activists, the first executions in the Southeast Asian nation in more than three decades and what was seen as the latest attempt to instill fear in a resistance movementthat has continued to battle the junta since it seized power in a coup last year."
From friends on the ground:
"Junta makes crazy.
Junta is very foolishness and very cruel.
Moreover his soliders burn a lot of village houses.
Junta executed 4 pro-democracy activists on last Saturday.
The announced that news on Monday.
On that day, Junta cut off the power.
They wanted to hide that news.
Yesterday,Yangon , Mandalay and other Cities were silent and indignation.
All are sad 😢.
In Bagan i saw some junta soliders in the town.
I passed some check points in the town.
We don't know what happen next."

Terrible, disgusting, inhuman, but what is the world doing about it? Nothing. No oil, no strategic or economic importance. Despite words of protestation, the west really does not seem to care and effectively turns a blind eye once again. If ever there was a country where the west could be strong and make an example of these malevolent dictators in order to make others think twice, it is in Myanmar.
As for "the first executions in the Southeast Asian nation in more than three decades ' surely that should read "formal executions" they are executing people on daily basis.

Aung San Suu Kyi has just been sentenced to three years gaol with hard labour. Aged 76 they might as well execute her now! I doubt any 76 year old will survive hard labour in a Burmese prison.
